Australia Visa Policy Update |10 PR points for single applicants without a spouse 2019

Changes to Points Test will apply to both new applicants who apply for the Subclass 491 (489 to be replaced with) visa a well as applicants for a Subclass 189, 190 and 489 who are yet to be assessed under the Points Test. The changes to the points test however are beneficial – no applicant with a pending application will be adversely affected because the changes provide for the award of additional points.
Amend the points test in Schedule 6DÂ to the Migration Regulations to award:
– 15 points for nomination by a State or Territory government agency or sponsorship by a family member residing in regional Australia, to live and work in regional Australia;
– 10 points for a skilled spouse or de facto partner;
– 10 points for certain Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) qualifications;
– 5 points for a spouse or de facto partner with ‘competent English’;
– 10 points for applicants without a spouse or de facto partner; and
– other minor amendments.
New Permanent Visa to be introduced:
Introduce a New Permanent Visa, the Subclass 191 (Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional)) visa (Subclass 191) from 16 November 2022. New Subclass 191 may only be applied for by holders of the new Subclass 491 and Subclass 494 visa. Applicant must have held regional provisional visa for 3 years before applying 191.
If you are granted this New Regional visa you cannot be granted any other permanent visa of any category for 3 years. However, you can move to any other regional areas.

Is the 10 points (for single applicants without a spouse) only for state government nomation or for Independent stream 189 as well??
Hi, is the 10 point for STEM for master by research and doctorate study only, which already have 5 points extra provided.
Or is it awarded to masters by course work too?
Thanks
Is this 10 points scheme expected in November will be applicable for people whose EOI has been submitted before Nov 2019 as well .. Or just for new applicants who lodge EOI after Nov 2019 ?
i have submitted eoi and i have overall 65 points what is the new change will i get extra ten points as im single or do i need to attempt pte to get overall 75?
Married but not living with spouse, she stays away and no children (Haven’t applied for Divorce yet). In Australia, do you Consider applicant as single, or should include spouse as well.
Hi techblogchain,
I have filed EOI as married, but spouse not accompanying.
Currently I have 70 points.
Will I receive additional 10 points.
Or it is not applicable for married person who is applying alone (without spouse).
Note: We are not separated. I am planning to file spouse visa for her (I know that it is costly) if I land in Australia as a permanent resident. The reason is that she can’t claim points as a skilled person since she is working in totally different industry.
Hi
Is there any age limit for single candidate for 10 points ?
Hi,
I am separated. Not living with my wife. Yet to file for divorce. Can I claim 10 points as ‘Single’ after 16th Nov 2019 for Australian PR?
Hi techblogchain,
1. I have seen your reply that applicant, who is married but not including his wife’s name at the moment will get 10 points as well and will be counted as single?
2. So, if a married applicant would like to call her wife later to Australia, would he be able to do that?
Thanks
Hi,
Will a divorcee be getting this 10 points?
